Education Reform

Title

Education Reform

Description

Notes:

our current education system is archaic and grossly inefficient

created in an error of low technology and complete geographic isolation, the system has little rational relation to this system we would create today.

It is time to let go of the traditional model, and remade a new system that takes full advantage of new world technology

the current system finances redundancy and waste by paying teachers to perform, rather than the students.

learning is the work that needs doing, and learner's should be fairly incentivized to do it.

by contrast highly paid personally performing Educators are an unnecessary artefact of the world where information had few alternative means of distribution.

is proposed that we replace the current 4-12 grade brick and mortar (and live teacher) education system with a reverse incentivized electronic system that pays learners not teachers. One national school should be created that teaches all subjects, through all levels of advancement.the school should be staffed with the best teachers, and all content video recorded and made publicly available for free through the Internet and cable TV. A prize of $60,000 would be awarded when a student achieves a passing grade on a "high-school equivalency examination". The prize, although substantial, would only be a portion of the money saved if you no longer build and maintain a brick and mortar school infrastructure) (As to prevent waste and abuse the money should be held in some matter of trust and incrementally paid out to the student over a period of perhaps 10 years).

It is contended, that such a system would produce better equipped high-school graduates much quicker and more efficiently with the side benefit of providing children substantial incentive not to waste their time on sports, drugs, another socially useless, if not destructive, activities.

Notes:

Education Reform

The current system produces little value at a very high price.

teachers are little more than babysitters, and redundant bad performance artists.

learning is work, and children should be paid (reasonably incentivized) to do it.

proposal: replace the current 4-12 grade brick and mortar (and live teacher) education system with a reverse incentivized electronic system that pays learners not teachers. Create one national school, that teaches all subjects, through all levels of advancement. Staff the school with the best teachers videotape all content and make it publicly available for free through the Internet and cable TV. Award a prize of $60,000 (which amounts to only a portion of the money saved if you no longer build and maintain brick and mortar school infrastructure) when a student achieves a passing grade on a "high-school equivalency examination". (As to prevent waste and abuse the money should be held in some matter of trust and incrementally paid out to the student over a period of perhaps 10 years).

Contention: kids will be much smarter much faster and few children will find incentive to waste their time/life on sports, drugs, and other socially useless nonsense.
